17 people escaped death after being involved in a multiple-vehicle accident. Three vehicles in Nigeria’s Anambra State crashed whilst on the old Enugu-Onitsha expressway, on the Nkpor/Umuoji stretch of the road.

Mr Pascal Anigbo, the Public Enlightenment Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), confirmed the crash. He mentioned that the vehicles involved were a red Mitsubishi bus with registration number JJT920ZW and a truck marked KPE686XA. A white hummer bus without a registration number was also involved in the accident.

“The injured victims had been taken to Crown hospital Nkpor,” he stated.

Anigbo attributed the cause of the accident to wrongful overtaking. “The Mitsubishi bus did wrongful overtaking and collided with an oncoming bus and the two buses collided with a truck,” he said.
