43 dead as fire sweeps through six-story factory in New Delhi
Forty-three people died in India’s capital, New Delhi, on Sunday. A fire had swept through a six-story factory where labourers were sleeping, government officials said.
The fire had spread quickly as the factory was making handbags and lots of raw material was stored inside the building, local media reported. However, no details on the cause of the fire were immediately available.
“Till now we have rescued more than 50 people, most of them were affected due to smoke,” Atul Garg, an official of the Delhi Fire Services tells the reporters.
Garg stated that approximately 30 fire tenders were rushed to the location after which the injured were admitted to four nearby hospitals.
