5 Anticipated Movies of 2019

Grab your popcorn ladies and gentlemen because the drama is about to begin! The year kicked off with a string of impressive blockbusters much to the delight of cinema-goers. From the psychological thrillers like Glass to superhero flicks and live-action remakes of Disney cartoons we grew up watching as kids, there’s only so much more in store. Avengers: Endgame

Marvel is set to debut its biggest film yet, the Avengers: Endgame. After the universe fell in ruins from the devastating events which took place in Avengers: Infinity War, the remaining allies come together to take their final stand against Thanos and restore order to the universe. This is one of the most hotly anticipated releases of 2019 as there were a lot of loose ends in the previous installment, as it left the fate of several characters in doubt. Avengers: Endgame will be in cinemas on April 24.

This iconic story about a street urchin in the fictional middle eastern city of Agrabah who discovers a magic lamp gets a remake helmed by Guy Ritchie. Fans can hardly wait to watch the live-adaptation version of this magical tale that had us all believe in magic carpets and talking genie! Aladdin hits theatres May 24, 2019.

Detective Pikachu

It seems like only yesterday fans had mixed reactions to Ryan Reynolds voicing the most famous Pokemon character. While the film’s teaser introduced us to a very furry version of the Pokemon species, it’s also a detective that can actually talk more than just scream “pika pika!” in a high pitched voice. Whatever the case, Detective Pikachu is a widely anticipated film for both and new fans alike. The movie will be released this May 10.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

The final chapter of the saga from a galaxy far, far away is set for a release this year. Word on the grapevine is that the final installment will premiere on December 20. Director JJ Abrams said that The Rise of Skywalker  is set some time after the previous installment, titled The Last Jedi. And despite his apparent death at the end of Episode VI, Return of the Jedi, Emperor Palpatine appears to make a comeback. Wonder what else the filmmakers will be surprising fans with?

Toy Story 4

Fans are already at fever pitch in high anticipation of Toy Story 4 this coming June 21. In addition to the reveal of a creepy villain, coupled with the introduction to some new characters, the trailer revealed the return of Bo Peep to the franchise. All in all, it’s all very exciting – it’s safe to say fans are beyond thrilled to be immersed in the world of talking toys, once again.
