5 Mother’s Day Gift That Won’t Cost A Cent

Abu Huraira once narrated: “The Prophet was asked, ‘Messenger of Allah, to whom should I be dutiful? ‘Your mother’, he replied. He was asked, ‘Then whom?’ ‘Your mother’, he replied. He was asked asked, ‘Then whom?’ Your mother,’ he replied. He was asked, ‘Then whom?’ He replied, ‘Your father’.

Mothers, for all that they do for us should be honoured and celebrated everyday. But with the existence of the Mother’s Day celebration every year, it allows us to go the extra mile to show our appreciation for the woman who would bend backwards for her family and go above and beyond to ensure they are happy.

This special day encourages us to remember the importance and significance of mothers in our lives, because we wouldn’t be here without them. Commonly celebrated in the month of May, this year Mother’s Day falls on May 12.

Treating your mother to an expensive gift might be a great idea, but to show her how much she means to you doesn’t mean you have to break the bank. Here are simple ways of treating your mother this Mother’s Day!

PREPARE BREAKFAST

This is a classic choice, as mothers are the ones who always prepare our breakfasts in the morning. On this special day, treat her to a breakfast spread made with love. It will be better if you can include her favourite food in the spread. There’s nothing like waking up to homecooked meals made by her children.

DO CHORES

Whether your mother is a working mum or not, it’s likely she has her plate full with a long list of responsibilities around the house. Help to ease her burden being hands on with the house chores. Wash the dishes or fold the laundry. Simple acts like these can make Mother’s Day a more relaxing one for her.

TREAT HER TO A MASSAGE

Mother’s might not ask for it, but a treat to a relaxing massage is very much needed considering they have to be on mommy duties for 24/7. There’s no such thing as going on leave when they feel under the weather. With that, pamper your mother with a massage. A simple foot rub, or a relaxing back massage would do wonders. But if you don’t mind splurging, treat her to a day at the spa!

HANDMADE PRESENTS

If your mum is the sentimental type who treasures homemade gifts, this is a great option. Whether it’s a card, a scrapbook or a framed photo collage, the time and effort spent to make these gifts will surely put a smile on your mum’s face. If handcrafts aren’t your thing, you can always bake some cupcakes and get creative with the icing!

QUALITY TIME

Life can get out of control sometimes to the point where we forget to stop and appreciate what we have. As the saying goes – ‘love your parents, we are so busy growing up we often forget they are growing old’. Time is indeed the most precious gift we can’t buy with money. Quality time is something parents truly appreciate, especially for those whose children are all grown up and busy with their own lives.
