7 Tips to plan your future Hajj from today
Every Muslim has a desire to perform Holy Hajj. Sometimes, while watching live Hajj clips, it makes you passionate and one cannot wait longer, to go there. Well, planning for your Hajj now is not too early!
Many people start preparing themselves for Hajj a few months or weeks before Hajj begins. But you should start preparation from today! Because of life-changing experiences and life is so unpredictable.
Here are some tips for early preparation of your future Hajj.
1. Make the intention
This may seem clear, but it is very important. The Messenger of Allah Sallallahu alayhi wa Sallam (peace and blessings of Allah upon him), said:
“Actions are according to intentions, and everyone will get what was intended. Whoever migrates with an intension for Allah and His messenger, the migration will be for the sake of Allah and his messenger. And whoever migrates for worldly gain or to marry a woman, then his migration will be for the sake of whatever he migrated for.”[Sahih Bukhari]
This hadith is great in its importance and benefits, every class and scholarly book revolves around this reminder in Islam. This hadith is based on fact that, every action of a man involves his tongue, heart and his limbs and hence the intensions in the heart are one-third of action. If your intensions are serious and sincere and you die before performing Hajj, then Allah Subhanahu wa taala (glorified and exalted be He), would reward you as if you have performed Hajj.
2. Start saving money
Hajj needs lots of money, so you need to start saving money from now. Try to choose those packages that suit your lifestyle and budget. Hajj is a busy and tiring experience so make sure the hotel you stay in is comfortable enough and what extra you would like (some packages include one set of ihram, SIM cards to use there, and ziyaarah etc).
Debts are another most important factor you must consider. Make sure that you have settled all your debts before performing Hajj. It can either be making an agreement which you can uphold after returning from Hajj or you can pay it off in full. The struggle for Hajj makes it even sweeter. The most amazing feelings would be when you pay all your debts and stand in front of Kaabah making dua.
Start Hajj fund or Hajj saving accounts if you haven’t already done so. You should have enough after two years if you deposit $10 a day inshallah. May Allah Subhanahu wa taala (glorified and exalted be He) grant us the ability to visit His home. Ameen.
3. Prepare your mind for testing experience
Usually we take our blessings for granted and focuses on negatives in our lives. In Hajj, your patience will be tested more. Strengthen your resilience and pass any test with a mindset to look for positivity in every situation.
4. Learn and appreciate the history of Makkah and Madinah
Learning the seerah of Holy Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa salam) is the most important thing through which you can truly appreciate the beauty of the place. This will consume time, but it will make your Hajj more memorable and meaningful.
5. Understand the meaning of what you recite
Salah is the most essential worship that any Muslim performs on daily basis. This is a conversation with Allah Subhanahu wa taala (glorified and exalted be He) which we repeat five times a day which is full of wisdom and adhkar. To perform your prayers with attention and tranquil heart, we must need to understand the meaning of what we are reciting.
This knowledge will connect us with spiritual benefits of why we are uttering these phrases or words in our prayers. All we need, in our prayers is to feel what we are uttering, and it will happen only when we come to know the meaning of our prayers. Learn the linguistic meaning of salah, you will find countless resources all over the internet.
6. Start making your will today
Islam emphasis on making a will because death can approach you at any time and for this reason you should have your will ready, instruct the correct distribution of your wealth, leaving no ambiguity for your loved ones and family. There are many examples of Islamic will templates online, so if you decide to leave charitable bequest, it will benefit you after your passing, as it will count as sadaqah jariyah.
7. End any issues with family and friends
Those who intend to go for Hajj are supposed to resolve their family issues before performing Hajj. You need to mend broken bonds, this goes for family members or friends you may have wronged intentionally or unintentionally. Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa salam (peace and blessing of Allah be upon him) said:
“The person who severs the bond of kinship will not enter Paradise.” [Sahih Bukhari]
So take time to ask your relatives for forgiveness. As you leave negativity from your heart you will feel lighter.
So, from today, make serious intention and dua that Allah subhanahu wa taala (glorified and exalted be He) allows you to visit His home as soon as possible Inshallah.
No doubt, preparation and niyyah will be rewarded.
