Chilean military plane crashes near Antarctic
Chiles air force said on Dec.10 that one of its cargo planes had crashed with 38 people on board after going missing in an isolated area between South America and the Antarctic. Chances of finding survivors are looking difficult.
The Hercules C-130 aircraft took off at 1955GMT on Dec. 9 from Chilean Patagonia and was heading to a base in Antarctica. Controllers lost contact with the plane just over an hour into the flight.
The defense minister said that the military is doing everything possible but hope of finding survivors was fading.
