Colourful Eyeliners – Work The Trend!

Beauty knows no boundaries so if you want to rock the colourful eyeliner trend, go for it. With the right application, anyone can slay the look! Here are some tips if you want to hop on the colourful trend.
PICK COLOURS WISELY
You might be itching to get your creative juices flowing by trying out every hue of the rainbow let’s get real – choose only the colours that works best for you.
Consider the colour of your eyes and your skin tone, for example. If you have brown eyes, opt for eyeliners that are in turquoise, aqua, lavender, pink, violet or golden shades.
If you have blue eyes, match it with orange undertones or bronze. Green eyes are suitable with rich jewel tones. Meanwhile, if you have hazel eyes, make them pop with emerald.
If you’re not super confident just yet, try a darker shade first. Opt for chocolate brown or a deep teal as these easily matches with neutral make-up for the rest of the face.
PICK THE FORMULA
Obviously, not all eyeliners are the same. Different formulas can help to achieve different looks. It goes the same with the usual black eyeliner, you know which formula works best for you in order to apply it with ease.
Liquid eyeliner
The liquid eyeliner is the easiest and most perfect to create bold lines of any size. If you’re new to the liquid game, stick to one that have a felt tip and treat it as a pen.
Gel eyeliner
Depending on how you apply it, a gel liner can be used to make both soft and harsh lines. A thin angled brush is easy because it almost does the work for you.
Pencil eyeliner
This type is one of the most used ones because it’s the easiest to blend colour around the eyes. Sharpen it if you’re aiming for fine and intense lines.
PICK YOUR STYLE
Now that you’ve picked the right formula, it’s time to choose your style.
Winged eyeliner
The go-to style for most women, this is a classic wing that extends a small point towards the eyebrow connected with a line along your upper lash line. If you want a precise flick, then use a liquid liner as the tiny tip will help you to get it as precise as possible.
Thin eyeliner
Although thin, this can help to spice up your make-up look. A pencil eyeliner will help you get a thin line if you press the colour directly on your lash line. Worry not if you mess it up or accidentally smudged it, you can always erase it with some cotton swab dabbed in micellar water or make-up remover.
Thick eyeliner
If you love to stand out, give a bolder stance by drawing a wider and more intense line. Draw a thick line across your lids and fill it in to give it a bold look.
Lower eyeliner
Adding some colour on your lower lash line can certainly up the ante and put a twist on any old style. This look is for the more daring ones. Take a pencil and line the water line, bringing the colour down into your lashes.
Smudged eyeliner
A fan of the smudged look? You can create a softer eye by smudging out your liner before finishing. This can be done with a pencil liner as it’s easier to achieve the not-so-perfect look.
BEHIND THE TREND
While the black eyeliner has been around since forever, adding a splash of colour to the eyeliner look goes back to 1930’s when the intention was to create softer looks. But the trend only really exploded a few decades later between the eras of hippies and hair bands. Based on camerareadycosmetics.com, colours such as blue, green, purple and grey were used for artistic looks for haute couture back in 1940s and 1950s.
But then we saw the pin-up trend take place which was often paired with heavy black eyeliner. Coloured eyeliners were promoted every now and then but the majority of women still prefer the stark black eyeliner.
Currently, the colourful eyeliner trend is all over social media with make-up lovers hopping on this trend.
