Developing our knowledge through Islamic quizzes
Islamic quizzes are a great way for us to stay engaged on our journey to gaining as much knowledge of the Deen as we possibly can. We can take part individually or with others, and we can try varied levels of questions from basic to advanced.
Taking part in quizzes will help us to develop our knowledge of Islam, which is our duty. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said in a hadith:
“Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” (Tirmidhi)
We can join our family together for a quiz, even if it is just for a short while amongst the busy schedules that everyone may have, as each minute we spend is still very valuable for us. This period of time will help us to build a closer relationship with our families, as well as set a beneficial example to any younger family members we may have. It is our duty to try to keep a good bond with our family. We should also remember that this activity of taking part in a quiz together will mean that we are remembering our Lord, and we read in the Holy Qur’an:
“Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.” (Qur’an 13:28).
If we live alone or far away from our family and friends, we can still join in quizzes online. With the constant development of technology, social media, and the online world, many opportunities are available. There are applications and other tools through which we can take part in quizzes with others. We create a way to feel connected to others as well as furthering our knowledge of the Deen. We must remind ourselves that our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said:
“Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradise.” (Muslim)
Quizzes also create a learning opportunity which is fun and interactive, and as there is such as variety available, we can choose the level we would like to participate in. Through an activity which is engaging and enjoyable we are reminding ourselves of our Creator. We read about the remembrance of Allah in the Holy Qur’an:
“So remember Me [Allah]; I will remember you.” (Qur’an 2:152)
Participating in quizzes also ensures that we are not wasting any free time that we have. We are using our leisure time for doing good and improving ourselves as we know that using time wisely and not being wasteful are both very important behaviours in our religion. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said in a hadith:
“Take advantage of five matters before five other matters: your youth, before you become old; and your health, before you fall sick; and your richness, before you become poor; and your free time before you become busy; and your life, before your death.” (Tirmidhi)
Prophet Muhammad (SAW) also said in another hadith:
“There are two blessings which many people lose: (They are) health and free time for doing good.” (Bukhari)
