Undoubtedly, no deed can actually be equivalent to a divine and sacred ritual like Hajj. And you will not get the equivalent of the spiritual peace that is gained in Hajj by any deed. But Allah is the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate. He has given us some deeds through which we can get the same reward as Hajj.

Here are 10 periods through which you can get the reward of Nafl Hajj:

1. Performing Ishrak prayer after Fajr prayer

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

Whoever performs the Fajr prayer with the congregation. Then sits at his place and is engrossed in remembrance of Allah till sunrise. Then performs two rak’ats of Salah. He will get the reward of one complete Hajj and one complete Umrah. The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said this three times. (Tirmidhi)

2. Learning or teaching Deen (knowledge of Islam)

The Messenger of Allah said:

Whoever goes to the mosque for the purpose of learning or teaching a good thing, will be fully rewarded like a person who performs Hajj. (Tabarani)

3. Performing Isha and Fajr prayers in congregation

The Messenger of Allah said:

Has not Allah given you the reward for performing Isha prayer in congregation equal to Hajj and for performing Fajr prayer in congregation equal to Umrah? (Muslim)

4. Participating in Friday prayer

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

A person who performs ablution properly from his house and goes out for the purpose of obligatory prayers, gets reward like a Hajj who enters ihram.

Saeed ibn Musayyib (may Allah be pleased with him) used to say, “Performing Jum’ah prayer is more dear to me than performing Nafl Hajj.”

5. Performing Eid prayers

One of the Companions of the Messenger narrated:

Performing Eid-ul-Fitr prayer is equivalent to performing Umrah and performing Eid-ul-Adha prayer is equivalent to performing Hajj.

6. Meeting the needs of any Muslim

Hasan Basri (RH) said:

“It is better to fulfill the needs of one of your brothers than to perform Nafl Hajj again and again.”

7. Obedience to parents

A man came to the Messenger ﷺ and said, “I want to take part in jihad, but I don’t have that ability.” Then the Messenger ﷺ asked him, “Are any of your parents alive?” The man said, “My mother is alive.” Then the Messenger ﷺ said to him, “Then serve your mother and present to Allah the inability to go to Jihad. If you can do this and your mother is satisfied, then you will get the reward of Hajj, Umrah and Jihad. So fear Allah and serve your mother.”

8. Remembrance of Allah

One of the Companions of the Messenger ﷺ narrated:

The person who make zikir of Subhanallah 100 times in the morning and 100 times in the evening, then it is like performing Hajj 100 times!

9. Abstaining from haram deeds

One of the Salaf (righteous predecessors) said:

“Abstaining from illegitimate deeds is better than five hundred (nafl) Hajj.”

10. Any good deed during the first ten days of Dhul-hijjah

May Allah grant us the tawfiq to get the reward of Nafl Hajj by doing all these good deeds and give us the appropriate power to perform the real Hajj many times. Ameen
