Egypt will allow worshippers to gather for Friday prayers since the daily tally of new covid-19 cases is plateauing at below 200.

The Ministry of Religious Endowment has permitted congregational worship from week beginning the 28th August.

Worshippers are expected to wear face coverings and observe regulations concerning social distancing.

The Friday sermon which typically lasts an hour should be reduced to ten minutes.

On Wednesday, 161 cases and 13 deaths were reported in Egypt.
