Allah (SWT) has advised the believers to be patient when they are in danger. He also announced an award for this. If a person is patient in the face of difficulties and does not blame people for fate, then in return Allah forgives his sins.

Narrated `Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) “Allah’s Apostle said, No calamity befalls a Muslim but that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it, even though it were the prick he receives from a thorn.” (Sahih Bukhari Hadith No. 5640)

The following are the eight heavenly rewards mentioned in the Qur’an:

1. Allah (SWT) is with the patient: Allah (SWT) says, “O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.” (Surat al-Baqarah [verse 153])

2. Gaining Allah (SWT)’s Love: Allah (SWT) loves those who experience hardship. The Holy Qur’an says, “And how many a prophet [fought and] with him fought many religious scholars. But they never lost assurance due to what afflicted them in the cause of Allah, nor did they weaken or submit. And Allah loves the steadfast.” (Surat Ali ‘Imran [verse 146])

3. The good news is waiting for the patient: The Qur’an says, “And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient.” (Surat al-Baqarah [verse 155])

4. The best reward for the patient: Allah declares the reward of patience, “Whatever you have will end, but what Allah has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.” (Surat An-Nahl [verse 96])

5. Allah helps the patient: The Holy Qur’an declares Allah (SWT)’s help to the patient, “Yes if you remain patient and conscious of Allah and the enemy comes upon you [attacking] in rage, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels having marks [ of distinction].” (Surat Ali ‘Imran [verse 125])

6. Angels salute the patient: When the patient enters Paradise, the angels of Paradise will salute them. Allah says, “Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured. And excellent is the final home.” (Surat Ar-Ra’d [verse 24])

7. Allah is their protector: Allah Himself protects the patient. The Qur’an says, “If good touches you, it distresses them; but if harm strikes you, they rejoice at it. And if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do.” (Surat Ali ‘Imran [verse 120])

8. Gain Leadership: Allah says, “And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and [when] they were certain of Our signs.” (Surat As-Sajdah [verse 24])

Allah Ibn Rajab (R.H.) said, “Allah has narrated in the Qur’an the incidents of the Prophets being in danger and being saved from it, so that the next time the believers put their trust in Allah in distress, pray for His help and wait for Him with faith.” The Qur’an says, “Let a man spend wealth from his wealth, and he whose provision is restricted – let him spend from what Allah has given him. Allah does not charge a soul except [according to] what He has given it. Allah will bring about, after hardship, ease.” (Surat At-Talaq [verse 7])
