Flash floods paralyse Turkey’s southern province of Adana
In the evening of December 23 during the unremitting rainfall which started in Turkey’s southern province of Adana, an entire neighbourhood and tens of streets and avenues became flooded.
The Levent neighbourhood in Istanbul, Turkey, which houses the U.S. Consulate, was the place mostly affected by the flash floods. Nearly all the buildings and vehicles in the neighbourhood of the Yüreğir district in Adana, Turkey, were damaged by flood water.
“All the public institutions are operating. The meteorology service predicts that rainfall will continue. We are at the crisis management centre, and all the public institutions are working hard to prevent any suffering of the citizens,” said Adana Governor Mahmut Demirtaş on December 24.
