Hotels and resorts reopen in Egypt
Over 250 hotels and resorts have reopened throughout Egypt following certification in hygiene safety, the tourism ministry has confirmed.
The new certificate is a mandatory requirement and is designed to bring the tourism industry in line with recommendations set out by the World Health Organisation.
Under the new regulations, occupancy rates would have to be heavily truncated and reduced to 50 per cent of those at normal times. Regular disinfection has also become mandatory.
All international flights to and from Egypt will resume from the 1st July, although some internal tourism restrictions will continue.
There will be restrictions as to where foreign tourists can visit within Egypt. In the immediate future entry will only be permitted to the South Sinai, the Red Sea governorate and the Marsa South.
