Indonesia’s Raka not concerned about political dynasty comments
Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the eldest son of Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo, is campaigning in the 2020 local election for the position of the mayor of Solo, Central Java. Raka claims that he is not concerned about people’s assumptions regarding him being part of the political dynasty.
“This is indeed a competition where I might win or lose, I could be elected or not,” he said in Solo on December 17.
According to Gibran, the most important point is that his candidacy was not an appointment by any party and that he made the decision independently. He said that the people of Solo would decide who deserved the position.
“It is up to the people if they want to vote for me or not,” he added.
