It is easy to lose our sense of direction in life
It is easy to feel as though we are losing our sense of direction in life with everything that is currently going on in the world.
We may often feel stressed about this loss of direction and this stress can affect all parts of our lives. We can start to see how stress causes us to feel mentally and physically exhausted. It can cause us to feel as though we are not able to focus on work as much as we did before. We may feel as though we are spending time with our families without being completely engaged in our conversations with them and in the time we are spending with them. This can be a very overwhelming feeling.
It is important for us to remember in these situations that this life is temporary and it is a test. Nothing in this world will last forever, whether that be the happiness we experience or the sadness. We read in the Holy Qur’an:
“Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do.” (Qur’an 39:7)
It can be difficult for us to keep this in mind sometimes, especially when we are going through a challenging time. We may often find that although we do remind ourselves that this world is temporary and this is something we believe in as Muslims, it can be hard for us to keep this belief at the forefront of our minds constantly.
We should, however, try our best to remember this belief as it will help us to cope with these kind of situations in life – the times we feel as though we our losing our sense of direction. We must also remind ourselves that Allah can see our struggles and we should make du’aa and ask Him for guidance and peace in our lives.
With all the hardships that people are facing around the world right now, we may be trying to convince ourselves to develop gratitude in our hearts and minds to help us feel better. We may for a while manage to keep this feeling of gratitude constant, but like everything in this world, that feeling is not stationary. We have to work hard to keep things in the way we want them to be, they do not just automatically stay a certain way.
This is why now it is all the more important to make du’aa to Allah, asking Him to help us keep our feelings of optimism and gratitude within us so that we can manage our lives properly. Therefore, even if there were many goals that we had planned to achieve that have now been put on hold because of the current situation, we should remember that everything happens for a reason and that Allah’s plan is above all plans. We read in the Holy Qur’an:
“But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners.” (Qur’an 8:30)
Throughout our struggles, it is vital for us all to nurture and develop our mental, emotional and physical strength, whilst reminding ourselves that Allah is the One we need to turn to. This will help us to find peace and contentment, as we keep in mind that Allah has power over all things. We read in the Holy Qur’an:
“Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent…” (Qur’an 67:1)
