Jordan closes border with Syria to prevent covid-19 spread
Jordan has decided to close its border with Syria for a week when the latter experienced a spike of covid-19 cases.
The decision would come into effect on Thursday morning.
The country’s other crossings with its neighbours are only open for commercial transport and remain shut for tourists and other travellers.
Previous plans to open international flights have been postponed.
Jordan has been noted for a particularly tight and effective lockdown imposed to stop the spread of covid-19.
