Mesut Ozil criticizes Muslim countries silence over Uighurs
Former German International Mesut Ozil has criticized Muslim countries for not speaking up for Muslim minorities subjected to abuse in China.
Ozil expressed support for the Uighurs in Xinjiang, China and criticized the lack of support from other Muslim countries and the community at large. He tweeted, “Qurans are being burnt. Mosques are being shut down. Muslim schools are being banned. Religious scholars are being killed. Brothers are forcefully being sent to camps.”
Arsenal FC, where Ozil plies his trade, distanced itself from the players remarks. Arsenal claim they do not involve themselves in politics.
