NASC: Hybrid cotton revives Nigerian textile industry and creates 10m job
The National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC) revealed on December 12 that the new hybrid cotton production can help resuscitate Nigeria’s textile industry and create at least 10 million jobs in Nigeria.
These newly approved and introduced genetically modified cotton varieties – BG2 – 571 and BG2 – 567 are supplied by Mayhco Seed Company.
These hybrid cotton poses increased pest resistance ability as well as the enhanced cotton yield per unit area.
NASC is confident that the promising cotton production will contribute to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and can guarantee up to 10 million jobs in Nigeria
