Pakistan’s Adviser: Shift of Malaysia’s car unit to Pakistan will improve local auto sector

Abdul Razak Dawood, Pakistan’s Adviser to the Prime Minister on Commerce, Industry and Investment, said that Pakistan’s local automobile sector will see an improvement as the Malaysian car manufacturer Proton, of Alhaj Automotive, had agreed to start manufacturing in Pakistan.

As a result of the agreement, a Proton automobile manufacturing unit will be shifted from Malaysia to Pakistan.

Dawood added that production is scheduled to begin in 2021 as plans were being formulated for the assembly of several models in the country.
