Price of Turkey’s favourite tea soars as cold weather hits
The price of Turkey’s winter-favourite tea, linden, has soared to 200 Turkish Liras per kilogram. As a result, customers are now buying the tea in portions as small as 50 grams. This is because in the colder seasons it is much more difficult to pick linden from trees, resulting in price increases.
Linden is very popular in Turkey during the autumn and winter seasons for its soothing aroma as the cold weather starts and seasonal outbreaks occur.
Rich in Vitamin A and calcium, the tea helps with many ailments including flu, cough, stress and heart problems.
The price of linden is expected to rise once the cold weather hits all of Turkey’s regions.
