Senses Snippets: BLACKPINK & CL Updates!
BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” Reaches 1 Billion Views
BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” music video has reached 1 billion views on 11 November and it’s the first music video by a K-pop group to ever reach 1 billion views. The only two other Korean music videos that have achieved such feat are PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style’ and ‘Gentleman.’
‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’s’ music video was released on 15 June 2018.
A day before that, it was announced that BLACKPINK won all three categories they were nominated for at the 2019 E! People’s Choice Awards. The categories are The Group of 2019, The Music Video of 2019 (Kill This Love) and The Concert Tour of 2019 (BLACKPINK 2019 World).
Congratulations to BLACKPINK and BLINKS!
Breathe Easy, CL
Another news from E! People’s Choice Awards. CL won the award for The Most Inspiring Asian Women of 2019 beating out Yuna from Malaysia, Alia Bhatt from India, Zhou Dong Yu from China, Raline Shah from Indonesia, Chutimon Cheungcharoensukying and Praya Lundberg from Thailand, and Jung Yu Mi from Korea.
It has been quite a week for CL. On 8th November, an announcement was made on social media that CL will no longer continue her contract with YG Entertainment after 10 years of being with the company. CL debuted as a member of 2NE1 through YG Entertainment in 2009. After the disbandment of 2NE1 in 2016, CL renewed her contract with YG and was promoted as a solo artist. However, CL has not released any new music in over two years, much to the dismay of fans.
News of CLs departure from YGE received a mixed response, but die hard fans are surely looking forward to brand new work from CL soon.
