In this busy world of the 21st century, we often realize that our backs are against the wall. In this case, we must remember that life is just a sum of some time. But even in this fleeting moment of worldly life, who does not wish for success?

But what is the real meaning of success? In our view, when a person reaches his ultimate worldly goal, we think of him as successful. But have we ever wondered what our goal as a Muslim is?

Who is the real successful person?

In the Holy Qur’an, Allah declares the standard of success of human life,

“He created death and life so that He may test you as to which of you is best in deeds. And He is the Mighty, the Most Forgiving.” (67:2)

Looking at the purpose of creating human life and death, Allah says that the person who does righteous deeds is the greatest of human beings and he is indeed successful.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said,

“Truly successful is the one who survives most of the things forbidden by Allah and is always ready to obey Him.”

But for some of us, success is the name of gaining a lot of wealth. For many, success is the name of gaining a huge reputation. But these are not the ultimate success. We know what really success is through Islamic teachings.

The life of the believer in this world and in the Hereafter is based on the same formula. Therefore, none of these can be the measure of success for a believer in this life and in the hereafter.

Qualities of the successful people

Allah says: “Surely those are truly successful who are humble in their prayers. And those who turn away from vain talk. And those who are active in Zakat. And those who guard their chastity. Except for their wives and their captives, they will not be blamed for it. Those who desire other than these are transgressors. And those who care about their deposits and promises. And those who guard their prayers. They will inherit Paradise, and they will abide therein forever.” (23:1-11)

Achieving the fear of Allah is another criterion for success in life. He who fears Allah will be honored in this world and in the Hereafter. Everyone believes in him, loves him.

Therefore, obedience to Allah and His Messenger is the ultimate path to success in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah says:

“And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger and fears Allah, those are successful.” (24:52)

Gaining success is not too easy

However, achieving this success is not an easy task. Satan is always trying to prevent people from achieving real success. Showing various temptations in front of people and worrying about the future, puts him in trouble. However, a believer does not despair even in such a situation and returns to the command of Allah.

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The matter of the believer is truly amazing. When he receives a blessing and gives thanks to Allah, this condition is good for him. (That is, he gets rewards in this). And he is patient when faced with any danger. This condition is also beneficial for him. (That is, he gets rewards in this too). And this feature is only for the believer.” (Bukhari)

There have been many disasters in the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him). But he never broke down in those situations. Sometimes he or his companions faced temporary failure in a task, but he had made this to be a success again.

Many other things like temporary defeat in the battle of Uhud, little trouble due to the deception of the Jews in the trench warfare, etc. could not turn the Muslims away from success. The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) was endowed with all the qualities required for success. In order to achieve real success by realizing the true meaning of success, there is no alternative to the teachings of the Prophet.

Let us not neglect to attain righteous deeds for the life of the Hereafter with the slightest desire to attain the world. Only when we are able to gain eternal paradise will we understand what real success is.
