Allah has created everything in the universe, including humans. For this reason, he is well aware of what lies in the welfare of man and the whole universe. He has provided Islamic Shariah as a complete way of life so that people can live in this world in a healthy, beautiful, and peaceful way.

Definition of Islamic Shariah

‘Shariah’ is an Arabic word. Its lexical meaning is religion, way of life, rules, etc.

We can simply define the Islamic Shariah as follows: “The Islamic Shariah is all the rules and regulations that Allah has given to His servants through the Prophet (SAW) to guide human life.”

Characteristics of Islamic Shariah

The following are some of the most important characteristics of Islamic Shariah.

1. Given from Allah

The Islamic Shariah is provided by the Great Creator, who created humans and the worlds, and is fully aware of the things that are most beneficial to humans. Allah says,

“Your Lord creates what He wills and chooses whomever He wills. None of this has any jurisdiction. Glorified be Allah, Exalted above all that they associate (with Him).”

Elsewhere he says, “Does not the One who created know? Surely He is the Subtle, the Aware.”

Therefore, it can be said without hesitation that Islamic Shariah is free from all kinds of defects and is most beneficial for humanity.

2. For all humanity

All the rules, principles and aims, and objectives of the Islamic Shariah are equally applicable to all people irrespective of country, race, and caste. In this regard, Allah says,

“And I have sent you (the Prophet) as a mercy to the worlds.”

“Say, O mankind! I have been sent to you all as the Messenger of Allah. ”

“And I have sent you as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner to all mankind.”

3. Wideness

Islamic Shariah contains principles, rules, and laws pertaining to all aspects of human life. Whether they are related to the beliefs, worship, and character of the people or the economy, politics, and justice system of the individual, society, and country. Allah says:

“I have sent down to you the Book (the Quran) as an explanation of everything and as a guidance, mercy, and good news for the Muslim nation.”

4. Originality and sustainability

The principles of Islamic Shariah are fundamental and Allah Himself has taken the responsibility of preserving its source. For this reason, this Shariah will last till the Day of Resurrection. Allah says,

“Verily, I have sent down the Quran and I am its Guardian.”

5. Ease of observance and free from the harshness

The principles of this Shariah have been formulated in such a way that people can follow all the rules and regulations of the Islamic Shariah in a very simple and easy way. Even then, if one encounters a reasonable problem in following the Shariah, the burden of the previous command is also lightened on him. Allah says:

“Allah wants to make things easy for you and He does not want to make things difficult for you.”

Elsewhere He says, “Allah has not imposed on you any hardship in His religion.”

Elsewhere, He says, “Allah does not impose on anyone a responsibility beyond his means.”

6. Excellent combination of material and spiritual

Islamic Shariah guides people to the Hereafter by performing acts of worship, and on the other hand, instructs them to fulfill the needs and demands of real life in this world. It has been pointed out that even in the busyness of the world, people should worship Allah,

“Those people (are real successful) whose trade and commerce do not prevent them from remembering Allah and establishing Salah and paying Zakat. They fear a day when many hearts and eyes will be upset.”

Again, instructions have been given to perform worship as well as to make a living. Allah says, “When the prayer is over, disperse in the land and seek the bounty of Allah.”

7. Appropriate assessment of individual and collective issues

Islamic Shariah has given equal attention to the interests of all without harming the interests of individuals. In Islam, individual ownership and self-interest are never neglected. However, when there is a conflict between the individual and the collective interest, Islam gives priority to the collective interest.

8. Timeliness

Islamic Shariah is progressive; Consistent with all eras. Because in order to solve all the problems that have arisen in the rotation of time, there are specific principles of thinking and research based on the Quran and Sunnah in the Islamic Shariah. Thus, it is able to adapt to all the new conditions that arise. Just as Islam has been successful since its inception, so it will be until the Day of Resurrection. Because this is the last and only way of life made by Allah.

9. Generosity

Islamic Shariah is full of generosity. In this regard, the Prophet (SAW) said:

“I have been sent with a liberal religion.” As a result of this liberal policy, non-Muslims also enjoy full security in the Islamic State.

10. Establishment of equality and justice

One of the main features of the Islamic Shariah is the establishment of fair rights for all, irrespective of race, religion, and caste.
