Trump urges World Bank to cease lending to China
US President Donald J. Trump called out to the World Bank to cease giving out loans to China on Friday, one day after the organisation announced a new lending plan to Beijing.
The World Bank plan to aid China with US$1bn to US$1.5bn in low-interest loans annually until June 2025. The plan represents a gradual decline from the average of the previous five years at US$1.8bn
Trump left it to Twitter to ridicule this decision tweeting, “Why is the World Bank loaning money to China? Can this be possible? China has plenty of money, and if they don’t, they create it. STOP!”
