Turkey threatens to retaliate if US impose sanctions
Turkey said on Wednesday said it would retaliate against any US sanctions proposed over its purchase of Russian defense systems. Turkey has announced that it is willing to cut off American access to key military bases should sanctions be imposed.
It added that it had agreed with Britain to speed up a joint fighter jet program.
US lawmakers will vote – and are projected to pass- a defense bill later on Wednesday that calls for sanctions against Turkey over its decision to procure the S-400 defenses from Russia.
Washington claims that S-400’s cannot be integrated to its defense systems as they pose a threat to its F-35 jet program.
