Turkey world’s largest flour exporter
The director of the Internation Association of Operative Millers (IAOM) Eurasia has said that Turkey will end the year as the world’s largest flour exporter.
Turkey’s flour exports are expected to reach 3.3mn tons for flour in 2019 and 3.5mn in 2020.
While 50% of flour was exported to Iraq in 2018, it dropped to 40% ins in the first ten months of 2019. he decline was overcome by increased flour exports to Yemen.
Turkey’s annual wheat production stands at around 20mn tons. It is also the worlds second largest pasta exporter globally. It has earned US$22bn through exporting flour products over the last decade.
