UN designates 2024 as year of camelids

The UN has announced that 2024 will be the International Year of the Camelids to reinforce their importance in communities.

This allocation takes place within the practice of assigning years to various causes. It has been welcomed by the leadership of the International Camel Organisation.

The UN has identified a number of important goals which will include combating desertification, biodiversity preservation, supporting ecosystems and preserving quality of land.

The UN General Assembly made the initiative following recommendations by the Food and Agriculture Organisation.
