Uzbekistan to host first International Investment Forum in March 2020
Uzbekistan’s capital city of Tashkent will be hosting the very first International Investment Forum as well as the meeting of the Foreign Investors Council on March 5-6.
The holding of this international forum was initiated by Uzbekistan’s head of state, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. It is expected that the forum will become a major event that will bring together over 1,500 representatives of foreign and local companies, investors, experts and foreign media workers.
The programme of the forum includes workshops and roundtable discussions on issues such as openness for business, deepening regional ties, and introducing technological innovations.
The purpose of the forum is to familiarise representatives of the public and the international business world with the opportunities created in the country for doing business with foreign companies, attracting investments in the leading sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy. These sectors include finance, industry and tourism.
In addition, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the latest innovations in regional development, digital technologies and alternative energy.
The forum will bring together representatives of the government, heads of banking and financial institutions, insurance companies, enterprises, agencies and associations. They will be able to discuss the latest trends in the investment sphere and forward relevant proposals.
Discussions to take place at the forum will include matters of wide attraction of foreign direct investment in the sectors of energy, mechanical and electrical engineering, information technology, agriculture, textile, food industry and construction.
