Vegan and Cruelty Free Make-up Brands

The term vegan used to be well associated as a niche concept as it was related to food. Adopting a vegan diet means cutting out products like meat, dairy, honey and eggs, focusing only on plant-based food like fruits, vegetables and beans as well as whole grains.

Now, veganism stretches far beyond just food – it’s a lifestyle. People have become more informed and conscious of the ingredients that go into products like personal care and make-up. The beauty industry took notice of this and jumped o the bandwagon to adopt the vegan culture as well.

Vegan make-up means products that do not contain animal or animal-derived ingredients. This includes honey, collagen, silk, gelatin and more (check out the list of non-vegan ingredients here).

Meanwhile, the term cruelty-free means that the ingredients and final product have not been tested on animals. This is where it brings a different meaning than vegan. Many of us tend to associate ‘cruelty-free’ as vegan, when it is not. The key point here is that the term cruelty-free mainly focuses on the testing process.
