Various mosques throughout the UK are conducting virtual tours of their interior.

Normally, Visit My Mosque day involves over 250 mosques opening their doors to visitors in a bid to foster warm relations with the local community. The campaign is supported by the Muslim Council of Britain.

Yet due to the covid-19 pandemic mosques remain closed and will launch virtual tours from the 19th to the 21st June.

While places of worship have been allowed to reopen in England for private prayer from the 15th June and will be reopened in Scotland later this month, mosques have chosen to remain shut due to the inherently congregational nature of Muslim prayer.

Mosques will give guided tours of the buildings as well as showcasing some of the charitable and community activities they have undertaken over the course of the pandemic.

Many have delivered protective equipment to healthcare staff while others cooked meals for vulnerable people.

From the south of London to the Scottish Highlands, mosques will participate all over the country.
